What is Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga is a classical and structured approch to Asanas (physical postures), first tought by Sri K.Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009) and became very popular in the west.

The main characteristics of Asthanga Yoga:

. Vinyasa flow (a flowing movement between poses)

. Ujjayi breathing

. Banddhas (internal locks to control the flow of energy)
Mula Banddha (engaging of the pelvic floor)
Uddyana Banddha ( draw in and up of lower abdomen)

. Synchronisation of breath and movement

. Drishti (focus of gaze)

Using the method of Ashtanga Yoga, heat and sweat are generated to clean the body from toxic waste and emotional blockades. The result of Ashtanga Yoga is an elegant flowing, animated sequence, a dance of the breath with the body.
